I was standing in front of a mirror, getting ready for the biggest performance of my life yet. I looked at my watch. It’s already 8:30pm. It’s time. I went out to the living room where there stood four top-notch magicians and illusionists: World class close up magician Rannie “The Boss” Raymundo, the legendary Ramon “Rael” Ello, the recently awarded “Magician of the Year” Master Dem Cuizon, and the magnificent Oliver “Tranz” Tajudar. My heart pumped vigorously when I realized that I am the fifth member of this troupe. Collectively, we are known as Magus Opus.
After a few minutes, we took off to the Mimosa Casino which was about 5 minutes from the villa which served as our dressing room. In the van, I was seated between the 2 maestros, Master Dem and Rael. On our way to the casino, only one thing was racing in my head: “I’m having my debut performance with the legends”. As we arrived in the casino, a huge banner bearing our name welcomed us. Posters of our show were in the casino entrance. We went to the bar where we had coffee before the show. A few more minutes later, it’s show time!
The Boss started the show with bang with one of his signature card routines. The show also served as the debut of “3 Coins and a Hat”, The Boss’ tribute to Ramsey. Oliver mystified the audience with his CD manipulation. Master Dem showed everyone why he’s called “master” with his silk and dove act. Señor Rael brought the house down with his ball, card, and cigarette act. And I made the crowd gasp with my winning act and kicker ending.
It was indeed a night of magic. In fact, the magic that happened that night was too much to describe in words. After the show, we retired in our villa where we had coffee, chips, and beer. We also spent the night sharing ideas, stories, and of course… MAGIC.
